For example, the presence of an opera score during a violent confrontation or a mass casualty event serves to underscore the gravity of the situation.
Representation: This term refers to the manner in which media constructs and influences the audience's perceptions and relationships. Representation involves the portrayal of various aspects such as gender, age, national and regional identities, as well as social issues and events. The way these elements are presented in media texts can significantly shape the audience's understanding and awareness of these important topics. For instance, there exists a prevalent stereotype linking the Black ethnic group with criminal behavior.
Audience: The term audience refers to the specific group of individuals for whom media content is created. Each media format is designed with a particular target audience in mind. For example, romantic films are primarily aimed at women and adolescent girls.
Industry: The media industry encompasses various forms, including print, radio, television, and film. It includes a wide array of media formats such as movies, television shows, news broadcasts, newspapers, music, literature, and magazines. Numerous challenges within the media industry warrant examination, including the operational dynamics of media institutions and the identities of those who produce media content.
